Jinbei ± 800KV Converter Station Project
The Jinbei 800kV converter station is an important hub project of the national "West-to-East Power Transmission" strategy. It is located at the connection node between the northwest new energy-rich area and the eastern load center, and mainly undertakes the cross-regional high-voltage direct current (HVDC) transmission function. The project aims to efficiently transmit clean electricity from wind power and photovoltaic bases in the northwest region to the East China power grid, solve the problem of new energy consumption, and promote the optimization of energy allocation across provinces.
Engineering Highlights
1. UHV DC core technology
Converter transformer: 800kV large-capacity converter transformer, equipped with tap online adjustment system, adapts to wide range voltage fluctuations, and reduces losses by 15%.
Valve hall design: Equipped with 6-inch thyristor commutation valve group, supporting ±800kV bipolar flexible DC transmission, and capable of dynamic reactive power compensation.
DC filter: Integrated high-frequency harmonic suppression device to ensure that the power quality meets the national standard (GB/T 14549-93).
2. Intelligent and digital applications
Digital twin platform: Build a three-dimensional digital model of the converter station, map the equipment status in real time, and realize fault simulation and remote diagnosis.
Intelligent control and protection system: DC line fault location technology based on AI algorithm, with a response speed of milliseconds and a reliability improvement of 30%.
3. High reliability design
Seismic resistance: Designed for 9-degree seismic resistance, it uses seismic isolation bearings and flexible connection technology with steel structures to ensure the safety of equipment under extreme earthquakes.
Anti-pollution flashover measures: The composite insulator creepage distance is optimized and combined with RTV anti-pollution flashover coating to adapt to the northwest dust and high altitude environment.
4. Supporting system integration
Grounding electrode system: Construction of bipolar metal return grounding electrode to reduce the impact of electrolytic corrosion on surrounding soil.
AC filter field: Configure 3/12/24th order passive filter group to achieve harmonic distortion rate ≤1.5%.
Implementation capabilities and advantages
1. Experience in UHV DC projects
The team has participated in national projects such as the Jiuquan-Hunan ±800kV UHV DC Project and the Qinghai-Henan Flexible DC Project, and has mastered the key technologies of "AC to DC" in converter stations.
2. Full-chain technical support
Design side: Jointly with China Electric Power Research Institute to complete electromagnetic transient simulation (PSCAD/EMTDC) and optimize the converter valve triggering strategy.
Equipment side: Cooperate with NARI Relay Protection and Xuji Electric to achieve 100% localization of control and protection systems.
Construction side: Use laser tracker to calibrate valve tower installation (error ≤ 0.1mm), and use nitrogen micro-positive pressure environment to ensure valve hall cleanliness.
3. Green construction management
During the construction period, a closed noise reduction shed and oil-water separation and recovery system are used, and energy storage + photovoltaic backup power is reserved in the station, reducing the carbon footprint of the entire life cycle by 20%.
Project Value
1. Power transmission capacity: Rated capacity 8000MW, annual transmission of clean electricity exceeding 40 billion kWh, equivalent to replacing 12 million tons of standard coal and reducing carbon dioxide emissions by 32 million tons.
2. Strategic significance:
Solve the dilemma of "abandoning wind and solar" in Northwest new energy and increase the utilization rate of transmission channels to more than 95%.
Enhance the peak-shaving capacity of the East China power grid to support the power demand of high-end manufacturing and data center clusters in the Yangtze River Delta.
